Shack Cafe Partnership with Appleton FC
Since the start of Sept, BYP has deepened its relationship with Appleton FC by opening a takeaway cafe on Sat Mornings (8.45am-2pm) and on Sunday Mornings (either side of a church youth work session 10.30-12noon)
This has been a really positive step into the community for our youth project, helping to raise its profile and work while opening up new contacts and networks.
In addition to that it has provided a necessary diversification of role for our salaried youth workers (John and Georgie) and is bringing in a regular, sustainable income for the project.
The plan is now to introduce volunteers into these cafe teams, especially as our salaried youth workers accelerate their work in schools (delivering Thrive: Mental Health support for young people) and find it harder to staff these cafe sessions themselves. If you would be happy volunteer in this context (serving hot drinks and making bacon rolls from behind our counter to customers with masks on) we would love to chat to you and offer training and qualification (Level 2 Food Hygiene Certificate) as needed. Contact John H on 07840 456564 or by email (see 'Contact Us' on our website)
For our staff and volunteer's safety we have installed social distancing measures, extra cleaning resources, contactless card payment options and a commitment to keeping the Shack ventilated while in use.
